Considering the fact that we live in an integrated world today, one would expect the significant percentage of youngsters to cause revolutionary change. Sadly, there are certain negative points which are affecting the capacity of the youth to make a strong impact. Youth demonstrations often denigrate into riots. This is not a new occurrence. However, what is new is the tendency of youth demonstrations to denigrate into looting sessions.

The recent youth protests in London clearly showed that youngsters were not just interested in imposing their ideological demands but were also interested in acquiring material comforts and products for free. Instances of outlets of Hermes London being targeted and looting sessions being coordinated with the help of Blackberry smartphones clearly point towards an overall spread of decadence in the thought process of youngsters. What is really ironic is that the youngsters in Egypt have done a better job of forcing the system to change as compared to the youngsters in London.
The products of developed economies have shown a tendency to focus on their personal comforts without bothering about the long-term consequences of their actions. On the other hand, those who have suffered a lot more and have faced a lot of poverty have not resorted to mindless looting and self-serving activities. They have instead focused on changing the system for the better by acquiring participation in the same.

A typical individual can burn some 100 calories per mile if he does more of jogging than walking. This means that you need to jog up to 35 miles to lose a pound. Since more calories are burned by muscles than fat, the more you build muscles, the more you will burn calories.

It is not really complicated because if you know how much weight you want to lose and you have a proper diet in place, then they only other variable will be how fast do you want to lose the weight. It is like buying horse insurance you will have to find out how much your horse is worth and insure him for that amount. How to enjoy your drink without losing control

Drinking responsibly is something that we learn from trial and error – in my case a lot of errors. There is always going to be one night where you have a massive blow out with your friends or colleagues after work and that’s fine. The trick is not to do it every night. Just like cigarettes alcohol is addictive, so like cigarettes you should watch your consumption. I’m not in the business of telling people what to do as the government seems to do that with depressing alacrity. All I’d like to say is that everyone can enjoy a drink without vomiting outside the bar on a Friday night.

A lot of people make the mistake of not eating properly when they go out for a heavy night of drinking. This is an error I’ve made many times in the past. Drinking on an empty stomach is the main cause of people feeling and being ill as well as some of the more colourful characters staggering their way down the streets. A simple way to avoid this if you know you’re going out is to make sure you eat a good meal before you start drinking. It helps to absorb a lot of the alcohol and prevents you from wasting any later on. Also, as alcohol is designed (most of the time) to appeal by its taste, having food can actually enhance the flavours of the wine or beer you are drinking.

Drinking at Home

Times are tough now. With living costs rising far above inflation levels, the option of going down to the bar and having a few drinks on a regular basis is becoming more difficult for the professional worker. London in particular is unashamedly expensive and unless you’re a rich and twisted city boy, going out for a drink can leave you with an empty wallet in under an hour. Nowadays the best way to avoid this is to get some friends together at someone’s house, buy your own alcohol and enjoy the luxury of familiar surroundings all for the price of less then £10 each.

I managed to get hold of some amazing fireball whiskey from a drinks wholesaler recently. Not only was the bottle cheaper then two shots in the pub would be, but it was pure and very tasty. Sometimes when you go out, some of the alcohol served can taste quite dirty at best and downright awful at worst. Usually this is because the bottles and pipes haven’t been looked after and the customer gets a duff drink as a result.

Of course even when you do drink at home, there is a tendency to overload on the amount of alcohol you buy from the supermarket. It is an easy mistake to make. Considering how much cheaper booze is to buy in a shop compared to a pub or bar, it is understandable. It’s no longer unusual to see trolleys ready to explode from the amount of Fosters, JD, Hoegarden and Shiraz that have been bunged in when taking a stroll around Sainsbury’s or Tesco’s. Bulk doesn’t necessarily mean quality though.

Quality over Quantity

Have you ever tasted Fosters? If you haven’t then I suggest going down to the local off-license and buying yourself a tester can. Not only does the beer look unappealing – the colour is somewhere between male toilet urine and regurgitated stomach acid – it tastes like drain water. I remember when I had my first can of Fosters at University. I was quite excited as I had never really had beer before (I had a strict upbringing). At first I was so pleased to be able to act all grown up and be part of the group that I never noticed the stale taste in my mouth. By the time I got to the second can I admit I was already feeling a little wary of having to drink more of the orange liquid. When someone pushed a fourth can my way, I had to excuse myself and go and get a bottle of coke to wash away the taste.

The point is, when you go to buy alcohol in the supermarket, the deals available whilst cheaper then what you would find in the pub, are not always the best drinks. Wholesalers on the other hand can offer a much wider choice and offer higher quality too. As they buy their alcohol direct from the suppliers there is no supermarket push to increase the price. The range available is usually superb as well. Any wine, beer or spirit you can think of (and quite a few you can’t) are all available to purchase at a far reduced price – perfect for summer parties and BBQs.

With the summer months coming to an end soon, it is even more important to be smart in your drinking habits. If you do go to the pub, then make sure you’ve planned ahead and have enough money to have a drink without bankrupting yourself for the month. When drinking at home make sure you don’t automatically go for the best deal at Sainsbury’s. Quantity does not always equate to quality. Where possible head to a wholesaler where you can get both quality and quantity for sometimes half the price they cost in the supermarket. Finally, if like me you’re struggling financially then the best thing I can recommend is to avoid the pub, grab your friends, and relax at home. You’ll save money without sacrificing your social life.

Firstly, while we all may be competitive, knowing that Bingo is wholly governed by Lady Luck, means that we avoid that sometimes nasty competitive streak that you can sometimes find in other games, such as Poker. We are sociable animals and genuinely enjoy the company and communication of our fellow citizens. We also have a good head on our shoulders for knowing when to play, and how much we can afford to spend. I would argue that Bingo has less obsessive players than some other forms of gambling like roulette and horse-racing. We usually cut our cloth according to our means, and don’t spend spend spend on cards when we need the money for other things.

Also, because the game is fair and we all have the same chance of winning in any given game, subject of course to the number of cards we buy, we’re all likely to have the joy of a win now and then. And when we win, that makes us happy!

So as sociable, happy and sensible people- why wouldn’t we be able to form a Government that creates a sociable happy and sensible society?

Well, maybe I have it all wrong, but I think I’d trust a Bingo playing prime Minister.. wouldn’t you??!

This is the same situation as the one with EU Banks. Most of them pretend that the finances they have available are strong and ensured, that they meet no problems at all simply because nothing has happened to many of them yet. The fact is, however, that most of them are being kept on the edge of capital and liquidity adequacy.

The European Banking Authority declared that almost 16 banks are shaking in insecurity simply because they are failing to meet the capital storage requirements imposed by the Basel Committee and because they have worsened liquidity conditions. However, they still hold their ground, pretend to be the good players on the financial market and are actually playing the game of being bad, but hidden bad. All these expressions, however, might not be enough to properly describe the situation simply because the happenings around the finance services market keep developing.

One such development is European Legislation Project for the capital requirements of banks. This would be aimed to reduce the hazardous dealings of the banks and help out the European financial stability. However, the European Banking Authority fears this might be the heating oil that would flame the system - many banks might not be even able to meet the requirements, many investments would turn bad and many deposits would vanish because of such major change. The implication should be gradual but Europe seems to have no time.

So while playing on good bank, bad bank, most of these establishments underestimate an upcoming financial crisis that would hit the debt-solutions of many EU countries.

Another issue which my friend ortak pointed out to me the other day, over lunch – and I am mostly guessing what he actually said, seeing as I couldn’t really tell – is that racism has been around for so very long that changing peoples opinions isn’t something that can be done with a few clever ad campaigns. The fact of the matter is that it’ll take hundreds of years for racism to dissipate enough that it could be considered anywhere close to being ’gone’, probably, and by that time aliens will almost certainly have landed and we’ll all start being racist to them…(at least, if you believe everything my friend says).

How to keep on fighting racism is without doubt one of the biggest and most elusive questions we will continue to face as the world begins to grow and more and more people have to live together, side by side. It’s definitely not a subject which is going away anytime soon, no matter what anyone in the government may tell you.

The best part about it is that it’s easy. It’s nowhere near as complicated as booking London Flights or anything like that. You just pick a word, pick another word, and build a sentence. When you’re done you play it, and if it sounds good / funny you’re welcome to upload it to the online gallery where it might even get on TV! I know it sounds a bit dull but actually it’s really fun. It’s definitely a good way to waste a few minutes at lunch-break when the bloke who always eats cucumber and fish sandwiches is sitting next to you, ranting about his receding hairline.

The best part about it is that you can make up rude sentences about almost anything you lile. Now, I know that sounds really childish, but I’m sure that at least a few people were wondering about that. Just don’t expect it to end up on TV, obviously…

As you will know if you saw the last in her documentary series, this episode wasn’t quite as fun and jovial as all the others. In it, some serious issues were raised, including grieving, more grieving, and how a still birth can be misconstrued as a “miscarriage” by reporters who really ought to do their journalistic homework…

The series began as a fluffy adventure, and grew more serious in the second show when, oh dear, the news struck loud and clear that this was a BUSINESS and not to be mucked about with. From then on it was good TV: arguments, shouting, swearing, ugly truths and behind the scenes footage that Lily Allen ended up asking viewers to please not watch. But watch they did, of course, and despite the fact that there are a few embarrassments on there, the series was one of the more thought-provoking. As an every day bloke I think Lily should be proud for putting herself out there like that. Right, now I’m off to find some vegetarian recipes online, and, while I’m at it, I might also have a look at what Lily In Disguise is up to.

There it is. That’s better.

Now, much as I will happily watch a bit of Gok after work, one thing has been getting to me recently: it’s the fashionable hoody’s that he’s been getting people to wear. If you ask me, it’s celebrities donning hoody’s / pushing hoody’s that’s the whole problem. Our governments tell us that hoody’s are bad news, which makes everyone afraid of anyone wearing a hood, and then celebrities do it and it’s alright? Forgive me, but isn’t that a bit odd?

The problem is, of course, fashion (as well as botox ) drives the economy forward. So in that respect fashionable catwalk babes who wear hoody’s are doing great things for all of us. But then comes the problem. The kids see these girls and boys wearing hoody’s and copy them, and before you know it, the streets are heaving will hoody wearers thinking What’s the big deal? If she can do it then so can I.

Me? I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the catwalk models started it all of. That said I am no expert, so maybe it was the kids on the streets who started wearing them first, which inspired the designers. Who knows. One thing I do know is we can’t blame the kids for copying. That’s what we all did, isn’t it? It’s just part of growing-up.
